Physics Drawing
This is a small test Matthew and I did. Well, Matthew did the VSL and I made suggestions and then packaged it up and fiddled. It’s really pretty cool.
Click and drag to draw geometry lines. When you release, it becomes physics geometry and the ball will start rolling. Other controls:
R - Reset the ball
Right click - delete/erase
Space - pause time
Even without real camera control, you can get into a nice rhythm of drawing and testing, making pitagourasuichi-style ball rolling contraptions. I find myself drawing large humanoid figures with faces and arms as I go as well. Can’t wait to show this in the context of the full project
.
I like it: a neat toy that has some cool possibilities. I found the most rewarding play came from getting the ball to build up enough force to bounce over gaps and climb hills, only to be sped along by gravity after it had crested the rise. You mentioned putting this in the context of a finished project. Gameplay-wise, this begs the question of what kind of goals you have in mind.
Will this involve an Armadillo Run style goal area? Will players be scored by their ability to keep the ball airborne or reach a certain speed on land? Will the player be able to draw an infinite amount of platforms, or will it be limited to facilitate puzzles? I’m eager to see where this could go.
