Yo, Swunken Treasure! Been a while! I saw your post on the SGDA and remembered you had this blog.
Nice trailer up there. I like the pretty colors, but every time those things splash, I feel like I ought to wash my hands. I feel sorry for the li’l guys, too. All they want is some sweet Matched! lovin’, and what do they get? An internal explosion. Is there a code for teeny-tiny screams of pain?
I like how you guys decided to keep the aiming guide. It’s always the first power-up I go for in these games anyway.
You might want to consider making some levels have a non-stick ceiling when they’re positioned close to your shooter. If one of your fired orbs gets stuck or moves inside your shooter orb, you can’t fire any more, but I’ve only seen it happen where the shooter is close to a sticky surface (Level 10 shoot straight up, Lv 18 shoot right) or a place where those little flexible pills are (Lv 11 break the bridge in half and build a chain that dangles on top of your shooter). Not that it really matters, since a fix is just a tap of the R button away.
I like the moving parts levels, too. The way that the pieces sway and bounce gives them a life-like quality, as if they were breathing. I don’t recall seeing something like that in this type of game either. Very cool!
Looking forward to trying out the level editor.
